Plasmon Coupled Colloidal Gold Nanorods for Near‐Infrared and Short‐Wave‐Infrared Broadband Photodetection

Solution-processed plasmonic colloidal gold nanorods (Au NRs) are promising candidates leading to new photodetection applications. While Au NRs of a specific dimension will lead well-defined optical extinction due the localized surface plasmon resonance, in applications broadband functioning is often desired. In this work, achieved from λ = 400 2000 nm by coupling various dimensions thin film form. Such an NR further applied on platinum (Pt) electrode fabricate hybrid Au-NR/Pt photodetectors. On these Au-NRs/Pt devices, thanks plasmonic-induced photothermal effect, clear photoresponse demonstrated covering near-infrared (NIR) and short-wave-infrared (SWIR) spectrum 800 nm, with <200 µs fast time. This work suggests that suitably coupled their strong effect strategies for future development low-cost NIR/SWIR photodetection.
